September is National Suicide Prevention Month. All month, mental health advocates, prevention organizations, survivors, allies, and community members unite to share resources and stories, as well as promote suicide prevention awareness. September 10 is World Suicide Prevention Day.
Chris Stewart, CEO of Katy Trail Community Health, will be presenting on the role HR plays in mental health awareness and suicide prevention among employees within an organization.

HR professionals are often the first exposure to a non-military work environment for transitioning military as a new occupation is a priority upon separation from service. When you meet someone with a military background, are you able to create rapport? Do you understand their value and potential to your organization? Are you able to understand some of the military-ingrained language or behaviors they have yet to break a habit in? Or is your engagement with a military person a bit awkward and possibly uncomfortable for lack of smooth communication?
