    September is National Suicide Prevention Month. All month, mental health advocates, prevention organizations, survivors, allies, and community members unite to share resources and stories, as well as promote suicide prevention awareness. September 10 is World Suicide Prevention Day.

    With little advance publicity (and seemingly little or no input from employers), Missouri voters passed one of three different Constitutional amendments making the use of marijuana and marijuana-derived products legal for certain medical purposes.   It is too early to predict all of the ramifications of Article XVI for employers, but this session will identify the provisions particularly relevant to the employer-employee relationship; discuss developments under similar, earlier laws in other states; outline the interplay of this Amendment with the existing Missouri worker’s

    HR professionals are often the first exposure to a non-military work environment for transitioning military as a new occupation is a priority upon separation from service. When you meet someone with a military background, are you able to create rapport? Do you understand their value and potential to your organization? Are you able to understand some of the military-ingrained language or behaviors they have yet to break a habit in? Or is your engagement with a military person a bit awkward and possibly uncomfortable for lack of smooth communication?
